Twist the cube. Shape the sound.
Rubik’s Cube Synthesizer is a Max for Live device.
Installation
Unzip the ZIP file and load the device on a MIDI track in Ableton Live.
Synthesis
The instrument provides three oscillators.
Each oscillator’s frequency can be controlled by multiplying it with one of the three pitch controls, allowing precise manipulation of harmonic
relationships.
The Shadow function increases brightness and simultaneously activates a rate modulation, producing a vibrating, LFO-like sound.
Interface
The cube’s movement is driven by all parameter controls, visually reflecting the sound changes.
Functions
The Scramble function is designed for rhythmic use and randomizes the sound.
The synth can operate freely or be synchronized to Ableton Live’s time grid.
When running in SYNC mode, the device records a buffer (resulting in a slight delay in control response).
The Position knob modifies a shuffle of the buffer, enabling further sonic variation.
